how to shoot weddings in the city

How to photograph weddings in the City | Feature in Rangefinder Magazine

Peaceful, natural and romantic—these are the words that no doubt spring to mind when you think of a rural landscape. You notice the gentle light and the complementary tones and colours, and, most of all, lots of open space. By contrast, the city is more closely associated with being noisy, dirty, aggressive and crowded. The light is harsh and directional, and the surroundings are awash in greys with clashing colours—not to mention, a comparable lack of space. The city is an assault on the senses for both you as a photographer and for your wedding party, but with a little …

2016 | Pick of the Pics

A little late to review 2016, however, as a photographic artist it’s a valuable process and after the pain of filing my tax return, I really enjoyed doing it! As a London wedding photographer, my year began on a cold day in January at one of my favourite London venues the Asylum in Peckham. Then I pretty much spent all my wedding days in the big city of London (other than a couple of jaunts up to the North and a trip to Santorini) shooting my last wedding of the year on a dark rainy day in December with the Wedding Arrangers at Shoreditch Studios.   As …

Council Chamber | Islington Town Hall

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of one of my faves in October last year.  Sarah & Paul.  Mr & Mrs Beckett tied the knot (after i persuaded them to change the room) in the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall in October.  After a lovely ceremony and a massive confetti exit Sarah, Paul jumped in a cab to Spa Gardens for a few photographs.   We all arrived to the pub in Clerkenwell just before sunset for cocktails, cakes and dancing.

Asylum Wedding & Hornimans Museum

2015 Year in Review | Eclectic Wedding Photography

A rather tardy 2105 review.   I photographed my last wedding on December 29th, however, that is not really a valid excuse.     I would like to think so, however it is not; as an artist “the review” is always at the whim of self sabotage… something one keeps putting off doing and pondering over how to present etc. The presentation style I decided to use this year is just a simple chronological highlights view of wedding (& one pre-wedding) photography.      By adopting this simple approach, I am just allowing the photographs to be themselves paired only with the next frame  …dating from 14 …

The Old Town Hall Chelsea Wedding

Leila and Perry met on the Kings road and married on the Kings Road.  The ceremony was held at the Old Town Hall Chelsea.  We popped to Albert Bridge for a wonder and some iconic photographs.  Leila and Perry then arrived to all their guests with drinks fully charged at 06 St Chads Place in Kings Cross.  The full wedding can be seen in the portfolio here Chelsea to Kings Cross
